Daily nectar feedings, through special feeders draw them in, and Dr. Theo's love of the birds have kept him loyal to the act. - The
average hummingbird's heart reate is over 1,200 beats per minute! (The
average human's heart rate is only 60-100 beats per minute!!!!)
- A hummingbird’s wings beat between 50 and 200 flaps per
second depending on the direction of flight, the purpose of their flight
and the surrounding air conditions. (That's what creates the
unmistakeable, mesmerizing hum you hear while at Yerette)
- 90% of the hummingbird's diet is nectar, the other 10%
is made up of insects.
If you want to learn more,
I highly recommend a trip to Yerette. You won't regret it. They also offer a
light lunch service, perfect for locals and tourists alike. I went with my mom
and bestie, and I absolutely loved every minute. Being tucked away in a lush,
green valley with these magical creatures was quite the dreamy Sunday
afternoon, pictures of which, are below! However, you'll need to call
ahead as they work by appointments only. (It is a private residence after all.)

DeleteEven though the picture of the birdhouse doesn't show an actual hummingbird, I feel as though I'm inside the Garden feeling the serenity it captured. The last picture of the hummingbird with an itch is cute too.
